Tampa Bay Breeze

Updated: Jan 16, 2021

In Honor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I created this tiki bar cart cocktail in honor of my newly adopted pro football team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In January 2020 after attending 6 Bucs’ games live and having the best time, my husband and I decided to become official Krewe Members and invest in season tickets. Since we were unable to attend the games this year, we made each game a big party at home and watched the games on television.

So for each game, I make this adult beverage in celebration. The Tampa Bay Breeze is similar to a Sea Breeze which contains vodka, cranberry juice, and grapefruit juice. For a Sea Breeze, the cranberry and grapefruit ratio is customarily a 3:1 mix. I decided to try a 1:1 ratio of these two juices and really liked it. The Tampa Bay Breeze is a more sophisticated version of the Sea Breeze by adding a hint of a high end orange liqueur such as Grand Marnier.

I like to support local businesses and entrepreneurs and I can’t get any more local than Mermaid Vodka which is headquartered in my hometown of Sarasota. Founded by Carol Strickland, Mermaid Vodka is a smooth, quality vodka that is great for the Tampa Bay Breeze. Since I’m a mermaid at heart, this vodka is perfect for Seas-ing The Day.

This cocktail is very refreshing and easy to drink. Add as much sparkling water as you want to suit your taste. The Tampa Bay Breeze is a perfect adult beverage for tailgating or watching the game on TV. Let me know what you think.
